In February, the Department of Homeland Security purchased an empty warehouse for more than $128m in Social Circle, Georgia that it plans to turn into a detention centre. The centre would house 10,000 people and double the population of Social Circle.

Incoming DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin has put on hold any new warehouse purchases but plans for already acquired facilities are unclear.
The BBC’s Madeline Halpert talked to residents about their concerns.
